Ground floor: The Brescian roots

The third room: Friends

The third room recalls his friendships in Brescia and the early years of apostolate among the youth of the Fuci (Italian Catholic University Federation) in Rome.

Cardinal Marcello Semeraro said: “Paul VI had a high cult of friendship. Reading his many interventions, one immediately notices how he habitually united friendship with communion. Friendship with God, certainly and above all, which he understood and explained in the light of the words of St. Ignatius: ‘Take, O Lord, and accept all my freedom,’ but also human friendship, which he did not disdain to illustrate by recalling Cicero. This friendship he considered to be a gradual exercise of anticipation to the love of God” (Oct. 6, 2017).
