The Concesio complex
The complex
The Birthplace of Saint Paul VI is now located within a complex of buildings that host different institutions and initiatives, created with the aim of preserving and keeping alive the memory of the Pope from Brescia.
The Paul VI Institute stands next to the Birthplace and, since 1979, has carried out an intense activity of collecting and publishing historical sources relating to the Montini pontificate and the Churches of the twentieth century. The institute also organizes study colloquia and research meetings with the participation of accredited scholars. From Saint Paul VI, through his secretary Monsignor Pasquale Macchi, a valuable collection of contemporary works of art also ended up in Concesio, largely made up of personal gifts from important artists to the Pope.
The Museum, entrusted to the Art and Spirituality Association, hosts the Collection that can be visited by the public, and also organizes exhibitions and events, together with an educational activity aimed at school pupils.
A large Auditorium makes the study center of the Paul VI Institute a meeting place for various groups and initiatives.
The complex was inaugurated in November 2009 by Pope Benedict XVI.
