First floor - First room: The Council
First panel
During the first council period the Archbishop of Milan intervened repeatedly to make the Ambrosian Churches aware of the topics under discussion at the council.
In the first panel, at the top left, the autograph of the pastoral letter of 24 February 1962 “Let’s think about the Council” and, subsequently, the conciliar passport are presented.
Below is a photograph from October 1962 of Card. Montini at the Council and, next to it, a typewritten draft of the card. Montini on the scheme of the liturgy; lastly an autograph of a letter sent by the Council to the Archdiocese of Milan (3 November 1962).
On display are the photograph of Paul VI in which the second period of the Council opens (29 September 1963), the photograph of the Council Assembly in St. Peter’s Basilica (29 September 1963) and, lastly, the typed draft of the scheme “de Oecumenismo ” of March 21, 1964.
Furthermore we find a sheet showing the names of the members of the Commission in charge of the “Gaudium et spes”, a photograph of Paul VI opening the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council on 14 September 1965 and the typed draft of the outline of the “Gaudium et spes”.
